Showing a building project under construction in Los Angeles, this image was created from an animation exploring the blur as a visual effect and as a materiality in its own right. More specifically, it emphasizes the surface of a traditional material: cement plaster. The product of a series of transformations going from sharp to blurred and back, the image represents material in a stable state. It is based on an obvious ambiguity: the surface seems organic and crumbly despite the immaculate whiteness and homogeneous consistency of the concrete.
This work was created to be part of the collective installation "The Architectural Beast" (2019) curated by Hernan Diaz Alonso.
