Alberto Kalach

Concrete Structure, 2017

This research was born in reaction to a major earthquake in Mexico in 2017, which destroyed part of the city. The architect was marked by the disparity of the ruins, struck down here and there, the nature of the materials or the structure of the buildings offering no simple explanation for the damage inflicted. Alberto Kalach presents fictitious and speculative exercises based on elementary, regular, symmetrical concrete structures, studying their capacity to resist seismic shock.

This work was created to be part of the collective installation  "The Architectural Beast" (2019) curated by Hernan Diaz Alonso.
