Ferda Kolatan gives us a portrait of our time through a study of the column. For him, this is one of the fundamental architectural elements, by which an era expresses its relationship to reality. Deformed proportions, oblique references to history and the organic world, a mixture of analog and digital technologies, confusion between reality and our perceptions: these would be the characteristics of the contemporary column—and, by extension, of our era itself, according to the architect.
